Welcome to MoCo in the Middle. I’m SJB, and I believe caring about your community includes asking questions about how it’s run.
I don’t do team politics. I care about our public schools, how our tax dollars are spent, what gets built in our neighborhoods, and whether residents have a meaningful voice in those decisions.
“In the Middle” doesn’t mean having no opinions. You’ll find plenty here. It means thinking for yourself, looking at the evidence, and being willing to question people you voted for.
This website gives those conversations a home—and a little more room than a Facebook comment section, where thoughtful discussion occasionally goes to die.
You can expect articles and commentary about local issues, contributions from community voices, and an upcoming video series getting to know the people and places that make Montgomery County home. Sometimes we’ll tackle a budget. Sometimes we’ll share a meal and listen to someone’s story.
We’ll link to sources, distinguish opinion from reporting, and correct mistakes when we make them. Different perspectives are welcome. Nobody has to agree with me to belong here.
Have a story worth telling? A question someone should be asking? Interested in contributing? I want this space to grow beyond one person’s perspective.
Local voices. Tough questions. Real conversations.
Welcome. Let’s see what we can build together.
